The governors of Harmans Water school are a group of people who have a strong interest in the school and in education. They represent different sections of the community and are split equally between parents, LEA/community and staff. Their main purpose is to maintain and improve the quality of education and the standards of achievement within the school. This means they are here to ensure the pupils are taught the national curriculum, to help and ensure the school spend its money wisely and to ensure the buildings are kept in good repair. They work very closely with the headteacher in making policy decisions regarding the school ethos as well as staffing, health and safety, the curriculum and many other things that affect the running of the school.
The governors usually meet in full once a term. In addition, there are two sub-committees (School Improvements and General Purposes) which meet once or twice a term.
